It produces an audio frequency tracing tone with two selectable tones that is detected with a compatible Tempo tone probe. This 6A-01 configuration includes ABN (bed-of-nails) clips and a protective holster, making it well suited for telecom and datacom field work on twisted pair, single conductors, coaxial cable, and de-energized or low-voltage wiring.
